Local Religious Ben Mutti leader speaks out on “public trust”

No beer at fair this year

“We appreciate the fair board’s recent decision to help gai…n back the public trust,” Mutti said Friday. “They made their decision based on fact and not opinion. This reinforces the idea that it makes ‘dollars and sense’ when public venues have a family-friendly atmosphere.

I wonder why Mr Mutti spends so much time infringing on others individual rights to choose?. I suspect IF he wants to help gain back the publics trust he should spend more time opposing those in Law Enforcement who break the laws they are so sworn to protect!.

Mr Mutti, what is your take on the FIRED APA SUPERVISOR who was doing his job while “intoxicated” which was only part of many issues that got him FIRED?. Why are you NOT speaking out against him when he runs his ads in the local media – huh?, what’s that again???? You have no comment?

And by the way, let’s be very clear about something here—the print edition of the MNJ is in deeeeeep shit. As their customer base of old-folks (who don’t own computers) dries up, so is their profit margin. It’s only a matter of time before they are gone from the convenience stores and front porches of the sheeple in this town.
Their online edition is a pathetic failure as well—-any look at the comment numbers regarding significant stories will point to a publication that is clearly in need of selling stories to people who need them.
That’s right—-the MNJ actively takes money in exchange for publicity, and as this economy collapses, so is the portfolio of Gannet.
Any time I see MNJ employee, I always take the time to tell them what maggots they are—-simply because it gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

  15. Steve Hartman says:

First off, I would like to thank the MODs/admins of this site for providing an alternative to the bullshit, lying, spinning MNJ. I can’t think of a more pathetic excuse for a “news organization” than these maggots. You may remember me as the MNJ resident atheist who often found enjoyment in laying waste to religion and other magical, bullshit ideologies. I can’t remember my handle (opositive7??) because I was banned about every other week.
Second—-Let’s keep things in perspective here: Muti could care less about alcohol at the fair. This guy is strictly out for publicity. Remember—this was the guy who was going to rid the town of the Top Hat, and came up miserably short before finally coming up even shorter on pay for his hired protestors. Then he was the guy who was going to run Adultmart out of business….with the same result. Over the years we have seen this guy in the MNJ, who repeatedly have given him a voice, and he NEVER achieves anything.
The best thing the people of this community can do now is avoid the fair completely to make these idiots from the AG society and fair board eat their primitive mentality.
And if any of you delusional proponents of Christi-insanity happen to see God, please tell him I said to go nail himself to the nearest tree, and if he needs any help, I’ll be more than happy to swing the hammer.

perhaps our rock n ribs fest should be purified, as well.

we enjoyed a mythos beer last week at the nonfamilyfriendly greek heathen festival.

one must not speculate of the peccadillos of curren fair board members.

I’d like a cold one at the Fair. I’m an adult and act like an adult.

Adults who agree with me can find something else to do Fair Week, then may the Fairies would get the point.

I understand the Fair made money last year from the Beer Garden. Enough said.

Use your voice! Just don’t go.

How is that Mr. Mutti has more financial insight into the fair than the fair board manager? If the numbers are that far off someone should explain who is running the operation. Perhaps the propaganda coallition fudged some numbers to fit their needs. Either way if there were no issues outside of the clergy and the fair made money where on Earth is there a problem?

Ah, there’s always the Bratwurst Festival to look forward to. For three days, it is open season on brats.

“Last summer, the Richland Community Family Coalition, religious leaders and others spoke against selling alcohol at what was billed as a family-friendly event.”

Not every Christian family tradition sees this as some fundamental contradiction.

Mutti seems to be a proponent of Sharia Law. Come to think of it I believe he is a Obama supporter, so that would make sense. His Heart may be in the right place but some times you can’t help wondering if sometimes God looks at some of these guys and says( Even I can’t believe these butheads are on my team) 🙂

I totally agree with your last statement from God. I’m sure he also shakes his head at how many times he’s mis-quoted or taken out of context so his words fit their agenda

I am a christian woman and I don’t agree with Mutti. What other places will he target because they have alcohol in them. I just don’t understand people like Mutti because there are bigger things that the Christian community should worry about in the scheme of things the beer gardern should be low on the list of the things they should worry about!

Just so you people “Against” the beer garden know how they had it set up last year. The beer garden was in a restricted area, so age requirements could be maintained. You could buy at the most, two beers. And you had to drink it in the restricted area. You could not walk around the fair with it. AND, you had to search a bit to actually find the beer garden. No incidents were reported involving the beer garden.

Unfortunately there are people like Mutti and his clowns who lack any common sense.

Todd LivingstonNo Problems = Problem in Richland County apparently. And lost by a 10 to 9 vote. Bet there will be some boycotting due to this, hopefully– to send a message to those clowns that voted to discontinue it.

  24. buckeyesyd says:

Bill Vaughn Completely sad. In our great nation why do we continue to categorize adult actions as taboo. As a service member stationed in Germany I see responsible adults enjoying beer in a very public forum. The responsibility they practice is in their choices is in turn passed down to the younger generations. Pulling a curtain in front of anything never helps. I wonder why America leads the world in Binge drinking

I took the kids to last year’s fair; we were there in the afternoon and until closing. I saw absolutely no issues related to the Beer Garden, NONE! Can anyone point to ANY problems that the Beer Garden created (the consternation of holier than thou types not withstanding!)? I anticipate the sound of crickets…BTW: I think I’ll take the word of Mr Wells over the overzealous mutti, any day!

Todd LivingstonHow nice of the Richland Family Coalition to impose their will & morals on everyone else. Good ol Mans-berg officials, doing what they do best–fixing something that wasn’t broken.

Stop using God as your goto for making close minded decisions. JESUS DRANK WINE. .. i know you try to argue that with fermenting but they didnt have coolers back then so save it. Im not saying i care either way because i dont drink the stuff but seriously stop using God as your mis-represented crutch. That statement of reaching people from the pulpit and not a barstool is the most anti Christ statement to make… IF JESUS CAME HERE AND NOW HE WOULD GO TO THE PEOPLE ON THE BARSTOOLS AND SIT WITH THEM AND LEAVE YOU TO YOUR JUDGEMENTAL PULPIT

Rick Hallock · Madison High School
im sorry let me clearify. first im hoping the news journal mis-quoted him because i know they like to do that sometimes to down any (God) point of view. if they didnt then i stand by my comment. second is im right. i am because that kind of statement just told everyong who does not know Jesus that He is not interested in you on a barstool, only if your in front of a pulpit. THATS AS WRONG AS WRONG CAN BE. PERIOD. third is the beer at the fair. it struck me funny all they talked about is money not if there were any problems from it, not if anybody drank too much and acted stupid so i wonder where their heart is in it. is it just for money? Jesus gave us all grace i think its time for religion to try it as well. not that some dont already. thats just my 2 cents

“If our community navigates itself out of the ‘Great Recession,’ it will be because our community took its directions from the pulpit and not from the bar stool,” Mutti said.

Mutti… you are an idiot! Quit using the name of Jesus… God… or whatever you want to call our Higher being to push your agenda. Stop using the News Journal as a way to see your name in print AGAIN! You give anyone that believes in a God (no matter the name) a bad rap.

I was at the Greek Festival this past week… gonna be at other church functions this year that sell or give away Beer. Why are the “Company of Seven” not picketing those local churches? Many churches hold bingo (GAMBLING AT IT’S FINEST!!!) why are you not picketing or bad mouthing them? I haven’t seen or heard of the
“Company of Seven” picketing the local churches who’s guilty of turning a blind eye to sexual abuse of children in their religions by priests!

YOUR type of so called Christians are why so many people stay clear of *AHEM CHURCHES… hypocrites… all Judging and pushing YOUR Views of Christ the way YOU feel it should be.

Ben Mutti… you seem to be working the statistics and numbers to make your point… can you give me the number of deaths in the bible that happened in “God’s Name” as apposed to the number of deaths in the Devils name?
Quit making all religions look stupid by pandering YOUR ideas!

Hey Mutti, you better take a long, hard look at those people sitting on barstools making perfectly good decisions about life. Most of those men and women do the true grit work of this world and don’t just stand by complaining about family-friendly or not. What’s your next target to pressure? The place where I get pizza is family-friendly and has beer if you need another big adventure. Company of seven……pffft. get a life and don’t push yours into mine, I don’t solve things diplomatically, I don’t think it gets the point accross.

Andrew Morgan · Malabar High School
Well Mr. Patton, The people of the fair board decided that we had too good of a turn out and just made too much darn money last year. Also there were adults enjoying themselves and we just can’t have that. Although we do value opinion, we have to stick to our narrow minded way of thinking.

Just another example of the religious right imposing their morals and JUDGEMENT on the rest of society. Want to see why people like me look at these people w\ contempt-look no further. For the record, I do not drink…
